As
the UK's largest City Learning Centre, Blackpool CLC required state-of-the-art
conference facilities to reflect its distinguished status and ensure
that the Centre would prove a real asset to the community. Videoconferencing,
professional training and presentation facilities, multiple projection
screens, interactive whiteboards, integrated document camera, DVD,
VCR and audio technology were all on the CLC's 'wish list'.
Anticipating a wide range of users from schools and libraries to businesses
and local area forums, the intention was to install flexible teaching
and presentation facilities that could be adapted to suit the user's
requirements. Furthermore, as a pioneering facility in the community,
aesthetics was a key consideration throughout the Centre.
BECTA-approved Promethean have recently installed AV and videoconferencing
facilities in the main presentation room on the basis of their acclaimed
track record in education, combined with a sophisticated approach
to providing easy control of the equipment. The simplicity of the
system is achieved by integrating DVD, VCR, video conferencing, audio
signal and active whiteboard technologies through one computer system.
With so many sources of audio signal, ensuring the highest quality
sound reproduction for clear and intelligible voice and music has
been successfully achieved using Armstrong i-ceilings Pro Series Sound
