250,000
sq ft, McDonalds cold storage distribution and offices.
As
part of the £1.5million electrical fit-out, the newly-built
‘McShed’ replaces the Gillette warehouse originally
on the site which was destroyed in the Hemel Hempstead oil refinery
explosions in 2005.
Contracted to provide a fully-featured, zoned PA and BGM system
throughout the 250,000 sq ft distribution centre, TIS turned to
audio equipment supply specialists CIE-Group to assist in the design
and implementation of a 16 zone system which resulted in a 42U rack
built around the newly-launched
FBT Audio Contractor amplification range.
Featuring
no less than 6 dual channel and 1 quad amplifier, FBT products were
chosen both for their reliability and space saving characteristics
within the available rack space.
In
addition to the 6 FBT MCA2150 dual channel amps and MCA4060 quad,
the rack also features Tuner, CD Player and pre-Amplifier from Inter-M
together with a bespoke zone switching unit built in-house by CIE-Group.
Zoning is remotely controlled from the main reception area via a
bespoke 16 zone + all-call desk paging microphone designed and manufactured
by CIE-Group partners Communication Technology.
The
TIS installation team, lead by Adrian Mee, completed the PA system
with 100v line loudspeakers selected from the IC Audio range. Specifying
DL06-165T Ceiling Speakers in the office areas, DK15T Horns in the
plant rooms and IP65-rated DAP20 Projectors in the main cold storage
areas, the completed system provides high quality voice reproduction
to all areas of this acoustically challenging environment.
Final
congratulations to the TIS team who through brute force and persistence
(and a bit of dismantling!) manhandled the 270kg rack up the stairs
to the second floor plant room!
